VISUALEYES : FILM CAMP FOR YOUNG BLACK WOMEN

In August 2015, we launched VisualEyes, a 6 day film camp for young Black women ages 17 - 29 in Toronto. 

This exciting new initiative was a  partnership between Ella Cooper and Reel Youth in collaboration with the Nia Centre, with generous support from the Canada Council for the Arts.

It took place on the grounds of Taylor Park Creek, Mississauga Territory at the Children's Peace Theatre. 

The next one will take place Aug 2016.

The Camp :

During this filmmaking intensive participants had the opportunity to:

  • Learn Filmmaking Techniques
  • Articulate & celebrate their unique stories 
  • Create video self portraits
  • Learn from local artists & filmmakers
  • Build new connections
  • Take time for self reflection in nature

Filmmaking 101 plus exciting guest speakers.

Fun and playful activities to spark new ways to capture, perform and direct their films.

Editing on Final Cut Pro in partners. Facilitated and taught by experienced and caring team leads.
